socrates (NOT pronounced so-cr8s!), our beloved site mascot, was a ancient philosopher in greece who was alive around 470-399 bc. he is pretty much the father of western philosophy. he influenced plato and aristotle, and was a scholar to many. he focused on ethics and logic in his arguments and examinations of life. he met an untimely death, sentenced to drink poision for 'indoctrinating' the athenian youth. and until the end, he upheld the ethics and morals he taught, proving how great of a philosopher and teacher he was.
